We take pride in delivering world-class service to all of our customers. Read what some of our satisfied clients have said about us!
John O'Connell Plumbing had an ad in the local-area advertising place about the replacement of the old 3-gallon toilet with a 1.5-gallon toilet which is more water-efficient. The ad also proclaimed that he would take it out and replace the parts. I did use him again 4 days after that. We had a garbage disposal unit that was very old, and also had two water filters underneath the sink. He took the thing apart and got rid of the old smelly pipes and put in new ones.
He is the nicest Irish guy you would ever meet. He was very pleasant and prompt, and he came out right away. The replacement of the toilet cost me $299. He actually came out again because it started to get loose when you sat on it - he caulked underneath it to make sure it didn’t wallow. He did that for free. I didn’t get extensive work done but I was happy with the price. In terms of the garbage disposal unit and the water filters, he looked at them. It was hard to get to the parts underneath the sink. To do both, with the parts, it cost me $450. We talked politics, and even though we might have had a slight difference in political talk, it was fun to have him here.

"We have used John O Connell Plumbing for several projects and have received quality workmanship as well as good suggestions for solving unique problems. They definitely know their business well and I would recommend their services."
Theresa Mogni, Glen Ellyn
"John O Connell Plumbing recently completed the remodeling of our master bathroom. I now have a bathroom equal to any that I have seen on HGTV. They have been the best company I have ever worked with on a remodeling project. The project went so smooth, within budget and most importantly with minimum disruption to the rest of the house. John was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of advice throughout the process. We will most definitely be using John again for any plumbing we need. I would highly recommend this company."

We weren't getting hot water in the upstairs shower. On John's first visit, he examined the problem and gave me two additional solutions in case replacing the cartridge wouldn't work. He gave an estimate for each of the solutions and allowed me time to think it over. I contacted him a few days later to come back to do the work. He was available right away and had hot water flowing within 20 minutes. As it turned out, it was the cartridge after all and therefore the least expensive of the solutions. John was very prompt, super friendly and professional. It was like having your favorite uncle come over to fix your plumbing. When I saw that John was featured in the super service spotlight in the November 2011 toilet issue of the Magazine, I couldn't think of anyone who deserved it more.

John replaced a section of our sewer pipe and installed an outside clean-out that can be used to have the sewer rodded from outside the house. We were very pleased with his work. The problem was a section of the sewer pipe that was under an area of the front garden between our front porch and the front walkway. He laid large sheets of plywood on the ground all around the area that he was digging in and piled the dirt on the plywood. He dug down about 5 feet by hand. When he was done, there was very minimal disruption to my garden and walkway. He finished the job in one day. He was very respectful of our property and thus we will have very little restoration work. He also took photos of the exposed sewer pipe and repair so that if there is ever a future problem we can review the photos of what was done.Ellen Estes, Glen Ellyn
John arrived on time, worked neatly, has a great sense of humor, cleaned up after he was done. He was flexible when I asked him to come at a certain time convenient time. I will definitely use his services again vs other plumbers I have used in the past.

My wife's hair plugging up the shower drain. did a quick neat job...and provided us suggestions to not have this again.GreatJeffrey Gullang, Lombard
John came to our house on an emergency call on a Saturday for a toilet that was overflowing. He had to clean out the sewer exiting the house and the next day had to come back and replace part of the sewer line exiting the house. He and his crew had to excavate down 7 feet in clay (dug by hand). He informed us of exactly what had to be done (bushes removed out in front of the house) and the approximate price. The price was right on the estimate. They worked for about a day and a half at our house and replaced the sewer pipe exiting the house. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and was very professional. I would definitely use him again.

We needed to have the hot and cold water sillcocks replaced in our basement as we had a new washer and dryer being delivered and set up. John removed the old sillcocks and installed new ones.John was contacted Memorial Day morning and was able to come out and replace the hot and cold water sillcocks for our washing machine that same evening. John did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. John is a very friendly person, and we are planning to have him back to address existing and future plumbing projects.George Meyer, Wheaton
Fixing a crossed pipe going to toilet. Cold water now comes to toilet rather than hot. Also sealed toilet.John arrived on time, was professional and friendly, and got right to work. He worked efficiently and did the job in a timely manner without any interruptions. His cost was about the same as his estimate, so I think it was a fair job. He cleaned up the bathroom after wards and did a fine job with the repair. I would use him again for another repair.Mark Gilmour, Hinsdale
John replaced a sump pump in our basement He returned a few days later and replaced pipes under our bathroom sink due to a leak/previous work was done poorlyJohn was a pleasure to work with. He was punctual, professional, and courteous. It is clear he knows his craft and takes pride in his work.Peggy Rechka, Carol Stream
John repaired and finished a botched plumbing job started by another plumber. New water supplies and drains were run to move washer and dryer from 1st to 2nd floor. Gas line was removed and inspected to ensure safe operation.Quote was delivered in a timely manner and the work was performed professionaly without incident. John is very knowledgeable about the plumbing code which proved to be very helpful in my situation. You want this guy on your side. Excellent overall experience - John restored my faith in contractors - would use agin in a heartbeat. Have reccommended to friends and family.Shawn Hayes, West Chicago
Installation of 40 gallon hot water tank and replacement of a check valve.Jennifer David, WillowbrookJohn was easy to get in touch with and was able to do the work within the same week which worked out great. He arrived early on Saturday morning and was done pretty quickly with both jobs. He explained things to me and answered other plumbing questions that I had. I will definitely be keeping his business card as I just found my new plumber! i'm very happy! Good tradespeople are hard to find.
John told me resetting undermount sink in granite countertop would be very expensive and he could only give me an hourly rate. He suggested I remove the caulk (or epoxy, if used) with a curved knife or dremel tool. He even left me a tube of caulk to use and only charged me $10 for the service call.Very happy!A. We wanted to have our 19 year old hot water heater replaced before it died on us and replaced the existing shower hardware in our master bathroom. John came out to look at the existing hot water heater set up and then purchased a new one for us that afternoon. He came back the next morning with his son Chris to install it. They were on time, professional, and easy to work with. Unfortunately, we did not have the new shower hardware ready when John was at our house for the hot water heater, so he came back a few days later. He was on time (few minutes early actually) and got right to work. He determined we needed a different handle for the shower to work, so he went to the supply store and picked it up to finish the job. He worked quickly and everything looks great. We've used John a few times in the past (replacing some clogged pipe and rodding main pipe to the street) and will continue to call him for any of our plumbing needs. He's a nice guy, very helpful with explaining things, and easy to work with.

Replaced the water heater, relocated an outside faucet, repaired an outside faucet, repaired a kitchen sink sprayer, and replaced the house water shut-off valve. There were no suprises when the bill was presented. I would gladly call them again if I needed a plumber. They showed up on time and got to work. The two men did different tasks where they could. They got right to work; were curtious, and kept each work area as clean as they could. Both answered questions and explained things they felt should be described. They cleaned up completely, when they were done, and then asked if I had any questions. John made the point that he would stand behind his work if anything went wrong.John Nicoll, Glen Ellyn
Replaced sump pump with 2 inch ejector pump. sealed pump with lid, added PVC pipes for ventilation from pump pit (had some smell issues since the washer drained into the pit) replaced all old pipes from basement wall to pump and all pipes from basement up to kitchen sink with PVC, reattached garbage disposalNina O Connell, Downers GroveHe came toProxy-Connection: keep-alive Cache-Control: max-age=0 ur house and gave us an estimate and spent a lot of time explaining things to us. He offered many different solutions based on how much we would want to spend. He came on time to the job (8 am). John did the pipes in the basement and another guy did the pipes under the kitchen sink. They were done that afternoon. We were responsible for disposing of the old pipes. They cleaned up the areas and left them very clean. Very pleasant and professional. So far no problems and no smell!
John restarted water service and did a full system check of the plumbing system in our newly purchased, previously bank-owned home. He ensured everything was working and identified issues that needed to be addressed as follow-ups to the system checks. John came back and addressed these issues as well and was very thorough in his work.Adam Sica, Clarendon HillsMember Comments:John was very easy to work with and took the time to explain any issues and addressed all of our questions. His costs were very resonable. Overall it was very good experience.
After moving into a Glen Ellyn home, we smelled a gas leak. Nicor came and turned off the gas, but it left our cooktop disconnected. John has extensive gas experience. He came and fixed the leak, and now we're cooking again! John was very responsive, knowledgeable and polite. We will definitely call him again.
